Barges
Traditional

Out of my window looking in the night
I can see the barges’ flickering light;
Silently flows the river to the sea,
And the barges too go silently.

Barges, I would like to go with you, I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, have you treasures in your hold?
Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

Out of my window looking in the night
I can see the barges’ flickering light;
Starboard shines green and port is glowing red,
You can see them flickering far ahead.

Billboards

As I was walking down the street one dark and dreary day
I came across a billboard and much to my dismay
The sign was torn and tattered from the storm
The night before the wind and rain had done it’s job
And this is what I saw

Smoke Coca Cola cigarettes
Chew Wrigley spearmint beer
Keneration dog food
Makes your wife’s complexion clear

Simonize your baby
With a Hershey’s candy bar
And Texaco’s the beauty cream
That’s used by all the stars

So take your next vacation
In a brand new fridgadair
Learn to play the piano
In your granny’s underwear
Doctor’s say that babies
Should only smoke till they are three

And people over 65
Should bathe in Lipton Tea

Blackbird
Lennon/McCartney

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird fly, blackbird fly
Into the light of the dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blowing in the Wind
Bob Dylan

How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
Yes, 'n' how many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

How many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head,
Pretending he just doesn't see?

The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind,
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Cannibal King

The cannibal king with the big nose ring
Fell in love with the dusty ma-a-aid
And every night by the pale moon light
Across the lake he wa-a-aid
He hugged and he kissed his pretty little miss
Under the bamboo tree-e-e
And every night by the pale moon light,
It sounded like this to me-e-e
A-RUMP (kissing sound) (kissing sound)
A-RUMP (kissing sound) (kissing sound)
A-RUMP-DA-DE-A-DE-A-A-A A-RUMP (kissing sound) (kissing sound)
A-RUMP (kissing sound) (kissing sound)
A-RUMP-DA-DE-A-DE-A-A-A
If you'll be M-I-N-E mine I'll be T-H-I-N-E thine
And I'll L-O-V-E love you all the T-I-M-E time
You are the B-E-S-T best of all the R-E-S-T rest
And I'll L-O-V-E love you all the T-I-M-E time .
We'll build a bungalow big enough for two, big enough for two, my darling, big enough for three
And when we're married, happy we'll be, under the bamboo, under the bamboo tree

Country Roads Take Me Home
John Denver

Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue ridge mountains, Shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Chorus
Country roads, take me home
To the place, I be-long
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads.

All my mem’ries, gather, ’round her
Miner’s lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

(Chorus)

I hear her voice, in the mornin’ hours she calls to me
The radio reminds me of my home far a-way
And drivin’ down the road I get a feeling’
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday.

(Chorus)

Dona

On a wagon bound for market
There’s a calf with a mournful eye
High above him there’s a swallow
Winging swiftly through the sky

Chorus
How the winds are laughing
They laugh with all their might
Laugh and laugh the whole day through
And half the summer’s night

Singing...
Dona, dona, dona, dona, done-a
Dona, dona, dona, don-a
Dona, dona, dona, don-a
Dona, dona, dona, don

“Stop complaining,” said the farmer
“Who told you a calf to be?”
“Why don’t you have wings to fly with,
Like the swallow, so proud and free?”

(Chorus)

Calves are easily bound and slaughtered
Never knowing the reason why
But who ever treasures freedom
Like the swallow has learned to fly

(Chorus)

Fat Albert
(Repeat after me song)

Fat Albert’s got some funky drawers
I seen ‘em when he took ‘em off
He put 'em in a washin’ machine
He took the umph right out of Mr. Clean
He put ‘em on the clothesline
He put ‘em up in the sky
Superman refused to fly
He put ‘em on a railroad track
He sent that train 50 miles back
He gave ‘em to a Santa Clause
(together) Ho, Ho, you’ve got some funky drawers

I see the moon, and the moon sees me
The moon sees somebody I want to see
God bless the moon, and God bless me
And God bless the somebody I wanna see

Created you for me to love
He picked you out of all the rest
Because he knew I loved you best

I see the moon, and the moon sees me
The moon sees somebody I want to see
God bless the moon and God bless me.
And God bless the somebody I wanna see

If I Had a Hammer
L. Hays and P. Seeger

If I had a hammer
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening ... all over this land,
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between all of my brothers and my sisters
All over this land.

If I had a bell
I'd ring it in the morning
I'd ring it in the evening ... all over this land,
I'd ring out danger
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring out love between all of my brothers and my sisters
All over this land.

If I had a song
I'd sing it in the morning
I'd sing it in the evening ... all over this world,
I'd sing out danger
I'd sing out a warning
I'd sing out love between all of my brothers and my sisters
All over this land.

Well I've got a hammer
And I've got a bell
And I've got a song to sing ... all over this land,
It's a hammer of justice
It's a bell of freedom
It's a song about love between all of my brothers and my sisters
All over this land.

Imagine
John Lennon

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Stop Kookaburra, stop Kookaburra

Lean On Me
by Ben E. King

Sometimes in our lives,
we all have pain, we all have sorrow
But if are wise,
we know that there's always tomorrow.

Lean on me, when you're not strong,
And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on,
For it won't be long,
Till I'm gonna need somebody to lean on

Please swallow your pride,
if I have faith you need to borrow,
For no one can fill those of your needs
that you won't let show

You just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long,
till I'm gonna need somebody to lean on

You just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'll understand
We all need somebody to lean on

If there is a load,
you have to bear, that you can't carry,
I'm right up the road, I'll share your load,
if you just call me

Call me, if you need a friend, call me... (etc.)

Leaving on a Jet Plane
John Denver

All my bags are packed, I’m ready to go
I’m standin’ here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye
But the dawn is breakin’, It’s early morn
The taxi’s waitin’, He’s blowin’ his horn
Already I’m so lonesome I could die.

Chorus
So kiss me and smile for me
Tell me that you’ll wait for me
Hold me like you’ll never let me go
’Cause I’m leavin’ on a jet plane
Don’t know when I’ll be back again
Oh babe, I hate to go

There’s so many times I’ve let you down
So many times I’ve played around
I tell you now, they don’t mean a thing
Ev’ry place I go, I’ll think of you
Ev’ry song I sing, I’ll sing for you
When I come back, I’ll bring your wedding ring

(Chorus)

Now the time has come to leave you
One more time, Let me kiss you
Then close your eyes, I’ll be on my way
Dream about the days to come
When I won’t have to leave alone
About the times, I won’t have to say

(Chorus)

Let It Be
Lennon/McCartney

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.

For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.

Let it be, let it be. yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.

I wake up to the sound of music
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Little Birdie Song

Way up in the sky
The little birds fly
While down in the nest
The little birds rest
With a wing on the left
And a wing on the right
The little birds sleep all through the night
“Shhhh they’re sleeping”

The bright sun comes up
The dew falls away
“Good morning, Good morning”
The little birds say

Way up in the sky
The little birds fly
While down in the nest
The vultures do rest
With a claw on the left
And a claw on the right
The vultures do sleep all though the night
“Shut up they’re sleeping”

The bright sun comes up
The dew falls away
“Bad morning, Bad morning”
The vultures do say
